2011 Louisiana Legislature Regular Session Update
The 2011 Regular Session of the Louisiana Session convened on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 12:00pm, and adjourned on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 6pm. Under current law, pursuant to La. Const. Art III, Section (4)(a), all regular sessions convening in odd-numbered years shall be fiscal in nature, which means that the any bill introduced or considered must have as it’s object the General Appropriation Bill. This provision is modified to allow each legislator(105 House members, 39 Senate members) to introduce up to 5 bills on any subject matter.
646 House and 272 Senate bills were introduced, for a total of 918. In addition, another 665 House and Senate Resolutions of various types were introduced, as well, for a grand total of 1583 legislative instruments.
